Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sok Sokha issued a stern warning on February 25th: Starting in March 2026, the Cambodian government will launch a comprehensive enforcement campaign regarding the registration of accommodations for foreigners. All owners providing residences or workplaces for foreigners must fulfill their legal obligation to declare such accommodations; violators will be severely punished according to law.

Sok Sokha made this statement while attending the event themed "Building a Cambodia Free of Human Trafficking and Online Fraud." This event responds to the call for "National Anti-Human Trafficking Day" on December 12th, 2025, aiming to unite the entire society to further strengthen comprehensive social security governance and build a solid defense against cross-border crimes.

In his address, he emphasized, "Starting from the beginning of March, we will adopt a 'zero-tolerance' attitude and strictly enforce the law against landlords who fail to report to the authorities as required and provide accommodation for foreigners without authorization. We will not tolerate or condone such behavior."

Su Sokha pointed out that the core purpose of strictly enforcing the foreigner accommodation registration system is to monitor the residency status of foreigners in Cambodia in real time and accurately, curbing illegal residence, cross-border fraud, human trafficking, and other illegal activities at the source, and safeguarding national security and social stability.

In recent years, the Cambodian government has continuously increased its efforts to combat cross-border crimes such as online fraud. It has explicitly required owners of hotels, apartments, rental properties, and other related establishments nationwide to promptly and accurately report foreigner occupancy information through the official online system, ensuring real-time data updates and data sharing, and building a comprehensive regulatory system.

In reporting on the interim results of the crackdown on online fraud and related crimes, Sok Sokha disclosed the latest official data: thanks to the government's integrated prevention, crackdown, and deterrence measures, approximately 210,000 individuals have voluntarily left Cambodia, and about 30,000 suspected offenders have been lawfully deported and repatriated to their countries of origin.

At the end of the event, Sok Sokha expressed his sincere gratitude to the embassies of various countries in Cambodia, highly praising the close cooperation between Cambodia and their governments in coordinating the repatriation of their citizens and jointly combating transnational crime. He emphasized that transnational cooperation is key to curbing cross-border crime.
