Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The annual cultural extravaganza in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia – the Giant Puppet Parade (originally translated as the "Giant Lantern Parade") will officially kick off at 6 PM on February 21st. A giant puppet, symbolizing world peace, will lead a procession of rare animal figures, illuminating the streets of Siem Reap and presenting a visual feast blending art, ecology, and the concept of peace.

Event organizer Veng Savan stated that despite recent challenges posed by the surrounding situation, preparations are progressing steadily. This year's parade focuses on wildlife conservation and endangered species protection, aiming to raise public awareness of the ecological environment through art and convey the concept of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

It is reported that this year's puppet lineup retains classic characters from previous years while adding a series of new animal models, including Eld's deer, otters, hornbills, elephants, and fireflies, vividly recreating Cambodia's rich biodiversity. The specially designed "white dove" puppet, embodying the international community's earnest hope for peace, will lead the parade, highlighting the event's dual mission.

Work on the giant puppet is expected to begin in early February. Originally initiated by a British artist in 2007, this event has become one of Siem Reap Province's most representative folk art parades, beloved by both domestic and international tourists. Although interrupted from 2019-2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its scale and influence have grown year by year since its resumption in 2022, becoming an important window showcasing Cambodia's social stability, cultural vitality, and commitment to ecological conservation.
