Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Recently, in close cooperation between the Cambodian National Police and the South Korean police, a joint law enforcement operation successfully apprehended 32 South Korean suspects in Phnom Penh suspected of engaging in transnational telecommunications fraud.

On the 5th of this month, Cambodian law enforcement, acting on prior investigative leads, raided a criminal den in the Nilok commune of the Chroy Changvar district in Phnom Penh. At the scene, law enforcement officers arrested 32 South Korean suspects and seized a large amount of evidence, including desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, and related communication equipment.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the criminal gang had a clear division of labor and had been impersonating South Korean police officers and inspectors through telecommunications networks for a long time. They exploited the public's trust in public officials to intimidate and extort citizens in South Korea, defrauding victims of large sums of money under the pretext of suspected illegal activities.

Currently, the 32 suspects have been transferred to the Cambodian National Police. Police are conducting further interrogations and evidence collection in strict accordance with legal procedures, and will subsequently handle the suspects according to law.

This joint operation once again demonstrates the Cambodian police's firm resolve to combat transnational crime and safeguard regional security, and also fully reflects the efficiency and precision of transnational law enforcement cooperation in combating telecommunications and online fraud.
