Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – To ensure public safety and social order during the New Year's Eve celebrations, the Phnom Penh Municipal Government has issued an official notice explicitly prohibiting the setting off of all types of fireworks and firecrackers throughout the city on December 31st, the global New Year's Eve celebrations.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Government emphasized in the notice that the core purpose of this ban is to jointly maintain social order, public safety, and traffic order in Phnom Penh. Due to the large flow of people and dense crowds on New Year's Eve, the ban on fireworks aims to create a good urban environment and effectively curb fires or other potential personal injury accidents caused by gunpowder firecrackers.

The Municipal Government expressed high confidence that the general public, business owners, private institutions, and all domestic and international tourists in Phnom Penh will consciously abide by the relevant laws and regulations. The notice pointed out that a civilized New Year's Eve is the responsibility of every citizen, and the active cooperation of all sectors will ensure that the capital enjoys a safe and peaceful holiday.

Regarding this ban, the Phnom Penh Municipal Government has issued clear instructions to relevant functional departments, requiring their full cooperation and effective implementation. Phnom Penh Police Department and Phnom Penh Gendarmerie Command have strengthened patrols and enforcement to crack down on illegal fireworks displays; the 14 district governments have implemented local management responsibilities and conducted in-depth public awareness campaigns in communities; and all subordinate departments have widely carried out publicity and education to ensure that the ban is known to every household.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Government reiterated that any unit or individual that violates the ban or disrupts public order will be dealt with seriously in accordance with relevant legal procedures.
