Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On December 28, Cambodian Minister of Information Ninh Phada issued a public statement urging the public and relevant parties to adhere to information dissemination guidelines and strictly prohibit the spread of false or misleading information regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border issue, in order to cooperate with the implementation of the emergency ceasefire agreement signed by Cambodia and Thailand on December 27.
According to the consensus reached by the Cambodia-Thailand Border Committee, the agreement explicitly requires the prevention of the spread of false information, aiming to ease border tensions through media control. The Ministry of Information's move is precisely to ensure the smooth implementation of the ceasefire agreement and gradually promote the border region from a temporary ceasefire to permanent peace.
To safeguard national security and border order, the Ministry of Information urges the public and media professionals to actively pay attention to information released through official media platforms of the highest national leaders, as well as through legal channels such as the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Interior, the State Secretariat for Border Affairs, and the Office of the Government Spokesperson; to disseminate information from clearly sourced and verified sources; and to trust and support professional media that adhere to professional ethics and comply with dissemination norms.
The Ministry of Information solemnly emphasizes that any act of creating or disseminating fake news or sharing unverified content will jeopardize the peace process. Social media users should consciously abide by the law and ethical standards, strictly refraining from publishing inflammatory, insulting, or defamatory remarks, and must not damage the reputation of others or disrupt social order. Video creators are explicitly required to cease editing fake videos and creating AI-generated images. The use of inappropriate language, cyberbullying, or any behavior that may incite hostility or discrimination is strictly prohibited.
The Ministry of Information calls on all professionals in the information and audiovisual fields, as well as the general public, to participate in the "anti-fake news" campaign. By consciously refraining from creating, disseminating, or sharing distorted information, we can promote truthful and clear messages.
The Ministry of Information firmly believes that, with the joint efforts of all parties to combat disinformation, the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement will be effectively promoted, laying a solid foundation for long-term peace and common prosperity along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
