Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Cambodia's Ministry of Public Works and Transport recently announced that the Mekong River super bridge project, connecting Phoun commune in Kandal province's Kansai district and Temogok commune in Loc district, is progressing smoothly, with 36% of the total work completed.

On the 26th of this month, Sok Vyth, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, led a delegation of technical officials to the construction site for an on-site inspection, to understand the project's progress in detail and supervise construction safety and quality. Secretary Sok Vyth affirmed the current progress and emphasized the project's importance to improving the national transportation network.

This Mekong River bridge is not only an important passage within Kandal province but also a key supporting facility for the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway (Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway). Upon completion, the project will achieve seamless connection between Xi Jinping Boulevard (Phnom Penh's Third Ring Road) and the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway, greatly improving connectivity between the capital's economic zone and the eastern border region.

It is understood that the Cambodian government allocated approximately US$230 million in special funds for the construction of this bridge to support the overall planning of the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway. The bridge is approximately 3,700 meters long and 26 meters wide. The total construction period is 48 months, and it is expected to officially open to traffic in 2028.

The implementation of this project is an important measure by the Cambodian government to improve its transportation infrastructure. Once completed, the bridge will effectively alleviate traffic congestion and significantly shorten travel time between the two banks of the Mekong River. This will not only provide convenience for local residents but also inject strong momentum into Cambodia's sustained economic growth by reducing logistics costs and promoting regional trade.
