
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Aun Pornmoniroth, recently met with Mariam Salman, Managing Director of the World Bank for Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. Following the meeting, both sides officially announced that the Cambodian government and the World Bank will soon sign a financing agreement totaling US$260 million.
This cooperation marks a further deepening of the long-standing partnership between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the World Bank. According to the meeting's outcome, both sides plan to build upon this project and further mobilize multilateral and private sector funding resources in the coming years to expand the financing scale. Both sides will continue to work together to promote Cambodia's development in key economic and social sectors.
This financing project will focus on improving the quality of social services, strengthening national infrastructure capabilities, and optimizing the economic development environment. The World Bank will assist Cambodia in enhancing its economic and social resilience and improving its ability to cope with internal and external shocks through a series of policy development projects; promoting economic diversification and reducing dependence on specific industries; strengthening production supply chains and improving logistics and production efficiency; enhancing industrial competitiveness and job creation capacity; and promoting sustainable and high-quality economic growth.
Through this multi-dimensional cooperation, both sides aim to accelerate Cambodia's overall sustainable development process.
