Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – To deepen economic and trade ties between Cambodia and the UAE and attract UAE investors to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia, a business forum jointly hosted by the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce was successfully held recently.

The forum brought together high-level officials and industry representatives from both Cambodia and the UAE, including Dr. Terek Khunlong, Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce; Duke Chen Fengming, President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council; and Salem AL Shamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. Representatives from approximately 250 companies from both Cambodia and the UAE attended the forum.

Dr. Terek Khunlong reiterated at the forum that the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce will fully support and facilitate all business and investment activities within the country. She pointed out that under the Cambodia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), trade and investment opportunities between the two countries continue to grow, and encouraged UAE investors to focus on high-growth sectors in Cambodia such as agriculture, agricultural processing, logistics, and tourism.

Duke Chen Fengming, President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of the Cambodia-Afghanistan partnership, stating that the CEPA, which came into effect on January 31, 2024, laid a crucial foundation for boosting investment confidence and mitigating the risks of large-scale investments. He noted that Cambodia not only boasts a domestic market of 17 million people but also serves as a vital gateway to the ASEAN market of 680 million consumers, possessing strategic locational advantages in both manufacturing and logistics. He also called on business communities from both countries to leverage the forum platform to connect and collaborate on practical projects, and the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce will provide comprehensive support for Dubai companies entering Cambodia.

Salm AL Shamsi of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce confirmed that Cambodian-Afghanistan business relations are developing steadily, with bilateral trade approaching $400 million. He further pointed out that Cambodia holds significant investment potential for Dubai businesses in sectors such as textiles, automobiles, and electronics. It is understood that over 30 Cambodian companies have already established operations in Dubai, covering real estate, wholesale and retail, and social services.

The forum also specifically organized a B2B business matchmaking event for Cambodian and Afghanistan companies, helping both sides accurately match potential partners in key industries.
