Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On November 28, Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen warmly received visiting Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on deepening bilateral practical cooperation, highly praised the strong momentum of current Cambodia-Vietnam relations, and jointly outlined a development blueprint to achieve US$20 billion in bilateral trade.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son first conveyed the sincere greetings of the Vietnamese national leaders to Hun Sen. He highly praised the close cooperation mechanism established between Cambodia and Vietnam at the government, legislative, and political party levels, emphasizing that this comprehensive cooperation framework has laid a solid foundation for the development of bilateral relations. Bui Thanh Son specifically mentioned that in the first nine months of this year, Cambodia-Vietnam bilateral trade had exceeded US$9 billion, demonstrating strong growth momentum, and fully affirmed the efficient cooperation carried out by both sides in maintaining border security and order.

Hun Sen warmly welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son's visit and fully agreed with Vietnam's positive assessment of border cooperation. He pointed out that Cambodia and Vietnam have achieved remarkable results in practical cooperation in areas such as combating cross-border crime and improving people's livelihoods in border areas, and both sides are jointly promoting steady progress towards the goal of "peace, friendship, and cooperation" in the border region.

Infrastructure connectivity was one of the core topics of the meeting. Prime Minister Hun Sen emphasized that this area is a key lever for deepening bilateral economic and trade exchanges and a key area he has long promoted. He expressed satisfaction with the continued increase in bilateral trade volume and reiterated his willingness to work hand in hand with Vietnam to promote the quality and efficiency of trade cooperation and achieve the bilateral trade target of US$20 billion as soon as possible.

The talks reached several practical consensuses, including the agreement that the two sides will officially open the Meun Chey international border crossing in early December this year. It is reported that the opening of this crossing will significantly improve the efficiency of personnel exchanges and cargo transportation between the two countries, injecting new and powerful impetus into Cambodia-Vietnam cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, and cultural exchanges, becoming a "new bridge" connecting the two countries.

At the end of the talks, Prince Hun Sen also expressed his deepest condolences to Vietnam for the recent floods, demonstrating the friendly ties between the Cambodian and Vietnamese people with sincere affection and adding a warm tone to this high-level meeting.
