Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On November 28th, the Fifth Plenary Session of the Seventh National Assembly of Cambodia was solemnly convened under the chairmanship of National Assembly President Her Highness Khun Sokhonn Davu. Following thorough debate and detailed explanation by government representatives, the draft National Budget Law for 2026 was reviewed and approved by all members of the National Assembly.

The law comprises six chapters and fifteen articles, its core purpose being to effectively implement national strategic goals and lay a solid foundation for achieving Cambodia's Vision 2050.

In its drafting process, the draft National Budget Law for 2026 placed particular emphasis on effectively aligning with the five strategic objectives of the first phase of the new government's "Pentagon Strategy," making it a key component of the seventh Cambodian government's social, economic, and political agenda.

The law clarifies priorities and reform directions, including prioritizing the strengthening of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, ensuring the sustainable development of national institutions, supporting the effective implementation of key policy priorities, and outlining a series of specific reform measures to be implemented in 2026.

Furthermore, the bill focuses on three core objectives: ensuring alignment between the budget and government priorities, improving the efficiency of tax collection and budget allocation, and contributing to macroeconomic stability and sustainable public finance development.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the National Assembly's Finance, Banking and Audit Committee, Chhean Veng, briefed all members on the draft bill's findings. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Aun Pornmoniroth, on behalf of the government, provided a comprehensive defense and explanation of the bill's content.

After carefully considering the opinions of the four members of parliament, the National Assembly formally passed the bill with 108 votes in favor. This marks a crucial step forward for Cambodia in planning and implementing its long-term development strategy.
