Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The German government has decided to provide Cambodia with a total of €42 million (approximately US$48 million) in concessional loans and grants during 2025-2026 to support the Cambodian government in promoting national socio-economic development.

This new aid commitment was signed during the Cambodia-Germany development cooperation negotiations held at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) on November 18-19.

The main agenda of the negotiations included jointly exploring the progress of bilateral development cooperation from technical and policy perspectives, and reviewing and planning priority areas for future development cooperation between the two countries.

Second Vice President of the CDC, Chin La, pointed out that the 2025 negotiations fully reflect the firm commitment of both sides to promoting Cambodia's socio-economic development, with a focus on resilience, inclusiveness, and sustainability.

Ms. Christina Laun, Head of the German Delegation and Southeast Asia Regional Director of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), praised the significant progress made by the Cambodian government in implementing national development priorities, particularly commending the effective implementation of the first phase of the "Pentagon Strategy."

Germany specifically recognized Cambodia's efforts in poverty reduction, governance improvement, social security system development, and public finance management, and highly valued Cambodia as an important partner for German development cooperation.

Both sides agreed to further deepen development cooperation in the three priority areas of sustainable economic development, healthcare and social security, and energy and climate change in the upcoming cooperation cycle.

Furthermore, both sides will strengthen cooperation in cross-cutting areas such as decentralization, municipal development, and digitalization.
