Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – To further implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Cambodia on jointly building the "Fish and Rice Corridor," the "2025 China (Hainan) – Cambodia Tropical Agricultural Technology Training Course," hosted by the Hainan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and the Royal Agricultural University of Cambodia, was successfully held in Phnom Penh from November 12th to 16th.

The opening ceremony of the training course was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Yin Libo, Standing Committee Member of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and President of the Hainan Overseas Friendship Association, who was visiting Cambodia at the time; Zhong Jie, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia; and You Ansken, Deputy Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, who delivered speeches.

The guests unanimously pointed out that in recent years, China-Cambodia agricultural cooperation has yielded significant results in areas such as technological exchange, industrial alignment, and improvement of people's livelihoods. They noted the strong complementarity between Hainan and Cambodia in terms of geographical environment and agricultural resources, and the enormous potential for cooperation. They encouraged all trainees to cherish this learning opportunity and effectively apply advanced agricultural technologies to local practices, injecting new momentum into Cambodia's agricultural modernization and the building of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future.

This training program closely focused on the core needs of Cambodia's agricultural development, with a particular emphasis on two specialized modules: rice and bananas. To ensure training quality, the organizers meticulously assembled a cross-disciplinary faculty team, inviting four senior experts from the Chinese National Banana Industry Technology System and the Hainan Provincial Rice Industry Technology System, Professor Chen Qisheng, former General Manager of CCIC Cambodia, Professor Wang Xiangshe, former First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, and local technical experts, including Dean Ji Hong of the College of Agriculture at the Royal Agricultural University of Cambodia, to jointly deliver lectures.
The training employed a diverse teaching model combining lectures, field practice, and case studies. It not only emphasized theoretical instruction but also included numerous visits for participants to the Kampong Chhnang banana nursery, Cambodia's largest rice mill in Takeo province, banana farms and packaging plants in Kampong Cham province, and on-site teaching of banana tissue culture at the Royal Agricultural University's tissue culture center, effectively promoting a deep integration of theory and practice.

After five intensive and fulfilling days of learning, all 40 participants from across Cambodia successfully completed the course and received certificates of completion. This training program is not only a concrete measure to implement the China-Cambodia "Fish and Rice Corridor" development plan, but also provides an efficient platform for tropical agricultural technology exchanges between Hainan and Cambodia. Through systematic technical instruction and capacity building, the trainees' professional skills in rice and banana planting management, post-harvest processing, and international trade have been effectively improved. This lays a solid foundation for further promoting the upgrading of local agricultural industries and deepening China-Cambodia agricultural cooperation, helping the two countries' tropical agricultural cooperation move towards broader fields and higher levels.
