Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet issued a stern statement on the evening of the 12th, strongly condemning the Thai side's use of force against unarmed Cambodian civilians in Baizhan village, Vu Phai Chuen commune, Vu Phai Chuen district, Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia, that afternoon.
This incident has resulted in serious consequences, with three civilians injured and one person killed.
Prince Hun Manet emphasized that Thailand's actions not only seriously violated basic humanitarian principles and international norms but also blatantly contravened the consensus previously reached between Cambodia and Thailand on the peaceful resolution of the border issue. In particular, the established agreement stipulates that both sides should maintain the status quo until the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) completes all surveying and demarcation of the provisional border line.
To uphold regional peace and justice, Prince Hun Manet made several clear demands of Thailand: an immediate cessation of the use of force against Cambodian civilians in the Bai Cham village area; an immediate cessation of all forms of force during border negotiations; a call for a thorough and independent investigation into the incident, with the participation of foreign experts, to ascertain the truth and seek justice for the victims and their families; and an urgent demand for Cambodian local authorities and all relevant military forces to take measures to effectively protect the lives and property of Cambodian citizens.
The Royal Government of Cambodia reiterated its firm stance at this moment, expressing its commitment to upholding the spirit of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Statement of October 26, and its dedication to resolving the border issue peacefully, ending the conflict, and achieving lasting peace and good neighborliness in the border region between Cambodia and Thailand.
