
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Cambodian Minister of State and Secretary General of the National Committee Against Cyber Fraud, Chhean Sinharith, recently met with British Ambassador to Cambodia, Dominic Williams. Both sides reaffirmed their firm commitment to combating cyber fraud and exchanged in-depth views on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Secretary General Chhean Sinharith reiterated the Royal Government of Cambodia's firm commitment and determination to eradicate cyber fraud. He emphasized that Cambodia is advancing this work through two main approaches: strengthening institutional mechanisms and deepening international cooperation.
He highlighted the establishment of the National Committee Against Cyber Fraud. He explained that the committee serves as an additional coordination mechanism, working in conjunction with existing agencies, with the aim of urging and promoting local authorities to directly assume responsibility for preventing, detecting, and combating cyber fraud within their respective jurisdictions.
Chhean Sinharith reviewed Cambodia's recent achievements in combating cyber fraud and stressed the crucial importance of international cooperation. He pointed out that such cooperation is essential for dismantling criminal methods and dismantling networks and institutions involved in technology-assisted fraud through joint investigations, information sharing, and the exchange of best practices.
British Ambassador Williams expressed his appreciation for the Cambodian government's initiative in establishing the National Committee to Combat Cyber Fraud and his satisfaction with the deepening bilateral relationship. He confirmed the UK's interest in expanding cooperation across multiple areas to support Cambodia's sustainable development and resilience.
The Ambassador specifically stated that the UK intends to strengthen its ties with the National Committee to Combat Cyber Fraud in order to promote reciprocal assistance and technical exchanges in combating cyber fraud.
The talks concluded in a positive and friendly atmosphere. Both sides discussed next steps in cooperation and capacity-building plans aimed at enhancing the overall effectiveness and results of joint operations against technology-assisted fraud.
