The adjustment of heavy weapons along the Cambodia-Thailand border continues to advance.

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Mary Socheat stated that Cambodia and Thailand will launch the second phase of the first stage of heavy weapons readjustment in their border region on December 8th.

  Mary Socheat indicated that both sides successfully completed the first step of the first phase of heavy weapons readjustment on November 1st under the strict monitoring and verification of the ASEAN Observer Mission (AOT). She emphasized that Cambodia will continue to maintain close cooperation with Thailand to ensure the comprehensive, effective, and transparent implementation of this action plan.

  It is understood that, according to the consensus reached between Cambodia and Thailand, the heavy weapons withdrawal operation will be implemented in three phases, each lasting three weeks, and will be monitored and verified by the ASEAN Observer Mission (AOT) throughout: Phase 1: November 1st to November 21st; Phase 2: November 22nd to December 12th; Phase 3: December 13th to December 31st.

  This phased readjustment and withdrawal of heavy weapons aims to ease military tensions in the border region, promote the normalization of the border situation between the two countries, and contribute to regional peace and stability.
