Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the 24th, the Chongzuo Border Management Detachment in Guangxi announced that after a three-year investigation, they had cracked a major cross-border drug trafficking case, seizing 28 blocks of heroin, weighing 9848.47 grams, dismantling three drug trafficking gangs, and arresting 14 suspects.
According to the announcement, the core suspect in the case, Lei, had been under police surveillance for over a decade due to drug-related suspicions. After Lei's foreign wife was sentenced in 2020 for organizing others to illegally cross the border, police immediately intensified their monitoring of Lei. In late 2023, Huang, a Guangdong native, frequently traveled to Daxin County, Chongzuo City, Guangxi, located on the China-Vietnam border, and contacted a local man surnamed Bi. Through joint investigations by Guangdong and Guangxi police, it was confirmed that Lei was Bi's supplier.
In January 2024, police in Guangdong and Guangxi provinces simultaneously launched a raid, seizing five blocks of heroin (net weight 1743.73 grams) and arresting four suspects from Guangdong, including Bi. Bi confessed to the source of the drugs, providing crucial evidence for the first time.
In October 2025, Lei frequently traveled between China and abroad, leading police to conclude he had smuggled drugs into the country. A special task force was established. After extensive investigation, on November 22, 2025, police surrounded Lei and others while Lei was personally involved in a transaction, arresting them and seizing 13 blocks of heroin (net weight 4593.52 grams). On December 23 of the same year, the task force intercepted and arrested a drug trafficking gang, including Li and Lin, at the Hengzhou service area in Guangxi, seizing 10 blocks of heroin (net weight 3511.22 grams). The case was thus solved.
Guangxi borders Vietnam, with extensive karst mountainous terrain and a complex geographical environment in its border region. In recent years, Guangxi has focused on cracking down on serious drug crimes, including smuggling, trafficking, transporting, and manufacturing drugs.
Data provided by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Higher People's Court on the 24th shows that from 2021 to 2025, Guangxi courts accepted 16,768 first-instance drug crime cases, and 24,005 defendants were sentenced in legally effective cases. (End)
