In the past five years, Guangxi has built 10 new county-level TCM hospitals, achieving 100% coverage of county-level public TCM medical institutions for the first time.

A press conference on the development of Guangxi TCM (Zhuang-Yao medicine) during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period was held in Nanning on the same day. Li Jiawen introduced that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Guangxi adhered to inheriting the essence and upholding innovation, strengthened the construction of the service system, optimized the talent training mechanism, built a platform for inheritance and innovation, and promoted the integrated development of the TCM industry. Significant achievements have been made in the inheritance and innovative development of TCM (Zhuang-Yao medicine) throughout the region, and the accessibility and convenience of TCM services have been significantly improved.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the total number of outpatient visits to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) clinics in Guangxi reached 60.0352 million annually, averaging 1.2 visits per resident population. The number of beds in TCM hospitals at the county level and above in the region reached 44,500, with 0.9 beds per 1,000 people, representing increases of 17.72% and 18.42% respectively compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period.

Guangxi continued to improve its TCM (Zhuang-Yao medicine) policy system. The newly revised "Regulations of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Traditional Chinese Medicine" officially came into effect. Major projects for the revitalization and development of TCM (Zhuang-Yao medicine) continued to advance, and TCM bureaus were established or added to the names of 14 prefecture-level cities in Guangxi.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Guangxi had 2,886 TCM medical institutions, a 35.2% increase compared to the 13th Five-Year Plan period; there were 150 TCM hospitals, including 23 Grade III Class A hospitals, and 11 county-level TCM hospitals reached Grade III standards. Guangxi has established 1,441 Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clinics in community health service centers and township hospitals across the region, achieving full coverage and entering a new development stage of "from existence to excellence." Guangxi has also established 172 "TCM pavilions" in community health service stations and village clinics, achieving "from zero to one."

Simultaneously, Guangxi is promoting the establishment of two specialized TCM departments and one county-level TCM appropriate technology promotion center (i.e., "two departments and one center") in each of its 71 county-level TCM hospitals, basically achieving full coverage. Guangxi has vigorously carried out training in appropriate TCM technologies at the grassroots level, training over 18,000 people in township hospitals and community health service centers. The proportion of village clinics providing non-drug TCM therapies has reached 90.47%, and high-quality TCM resources continue to extend to the grassroots level.

In terms of talent and technological support, Guangxi has implemented three major training projects: renowned Guangxi TCM doctors, renowned Qihuang talents, and successor talents. Ten new Guangxi-style TCM masters and 59 renowned Guangxi TCM doctors have been recognized. Fourteen Guangxi Qihuang scholars, 30 young Qihuang scholars, and 100 outstanding TCM talents have been selected. A total of 2,024 key personnel for the inheritance of TCM (Zhuang and Yao medicine) have been trained in various disciplines.

Furthermore, Guangxi has added two national TCM inheritance and innovation centers, one project has been selected for the National Key Research and Development Program's "Modernization of TCM" key project, and two individuals have been selected for the National Qihuang Scholar Training Program. These achievements represent a "double breakthrough" in key TCM research and development projects and leading talents. (End)
