Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Information Office of the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region held the 19th press conference in a series on "The Successful Practice of the Party's Strategy for Governing Xinjiang in the New Era" on the 27th, introducing the new progress made in the construction of democracy and the rule of law in Xinjiang.

Regarding legislation, as of October 2025, Xinjiang has 173 currently effective local regulations, 54 regulatory resolutions and decisions on major issues, and 204 currently effective local regulations and special regulations of prefecture-level cities, autonomous prefectures, and autonomous counties, covering all areas including politics, economy, culture, society, and people's livelihood. The local regulatory system with Xinjiang characteristics is becoming increasingly sound and complete, effectively safeguarding social stability and long-term peace and security in Xinjiang.

Supervision work is continuously improving in quality and efficiency. The Standing Committee of the Xinjiang People's Congress comprehensively utilizes methods such as listening to reports, law enforcement inspections, and special inquiries to accurately cover key areas such as the economy, people's livelihood, environmental protection, and the judiciary. For example, it conducted special inquiries on medical security to promote the implementation of policies such as abolishing self-made medical cards by medical institutions, facilitating people's lives. It has also carried out long-term supervision of ecological and environmental protection, promoting continuous improvement in air quality. Strengthening judicial oversight, promoting the lawful performance of duties by judicial and procuratorial organs, and enhancing judicial credibility.

As of 2024, Xinjiang had over 74,000 deputies to the People's Congresses at all levels, with grassroots deputies and ethnic minority deputies accounting for 78.69% and 69.21% respectively. The Xinjiang People's Congress has continuously optimized its deputy structure, improved institutional mechanisms, and leveraged the role of deputies, promoting the integration of deputies' proposals with legislative work to ensure the effective handling of deputies' suggestions. Through activities such as "Ten Thousand Deputies Visiting Ten Thousand Homes," deputies go deep into the grassroots, using forms popular with the masses to conduct policy dissemination, visit and connect with the people, collect public opinions, and assist in grassroots governance.

The Standing Committee of the Xinjiang People's Congress has also established and effectively utilized platforms such as deputy representative service stations. Currently, 98% of Xinjiang's 5,366 deputy representative service stations and liaison stations are located at the grassroots level, ensuring they are always open, staffed, and accessible to the public. The "Deputies can contact us via QR code, express their opinions via QR code, and get immediate action" system has been fully implemented. These "democratic political windows at the doorstep" allow the public to promptly reflect their wishes and demands to deputies, highlighting the characteristics of democracy. (over)
