Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, attended the conference and delivered a speech. He emphasized that local foreign affairs work should be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, thoroughly implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, follow the foreign policy and country-specific policies determined by the CPC Central Committee, serve the overall national diplomacy and the theme of high-quality development, leverage local characteristics and advantages, continuously improve the quality and efficiency of local foreign affairs, and effectively serve the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan. He stressed the need to implement the requirements of the CPC Central Committee, adhere to the principle of thrift in foreign affairs, and ensure that official overseas trips and international forums and exhibitions are pragmatic and efficient.
