Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of June 22, Cambodian government spokesperson Ban Boonak held a special press conference to report on the latest developments in the Cambodia-Thailand border issue and clearly articulate Cambodia's firm stance on safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ban Boonak stated at the press conference that since the first ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand took effect on July 28, 2025, Cambodia has lodged 42 formal diplomatic representations with Thailand regarding repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement. Among these, the Joint Border Committee (JBC) has formally submitted 32 diplomatic representations to Thailand regarding the illegal stationing and occupation of positions by the Thai military within Cambodian territory, upholding Cambodia's border rights in accordance with laws and regulations.

The spokesperson further disclosed that since December 27, 2025, the Joint Border Committee has continuously promoted the peaceful resolution of the border issue, issuing nine diplomatic notes to Thailand, proposing a special bilateral meeting, and dispatching a Joint Survey Team (JST) to conduct on-site surveys, steadily advancing the demarcation of the border between the two countries and promoting the normalization and institutionalization of border disputes.

Ban Bona emphasized that Cambodia lodged formal diplomatic protests immediately for every violation of the ceasefire agreement and infringement upon border rights by Thailand, ensuring a complete and thorough investigation. These diplomatic documents are not only crucial evidence of bilateral communication but also the core legal basis for Cambodia to uphold its legitimate national rights and interests and resolve border disputes fairly, in accordance with international law.

According to reports, Cambodia's initiatives, including bilateral consultations and joint on-site surveys, fully align with the consensus reached in the minutes and joint statement of the meetings between Cambodia and Thailand in October and December 2025, possessing a solid foundation of bilateral agreements and compliance. However, to date, Thailand has unilaterally requested an indefinite postponement of the scheduled border consultation meetings, citing internal affairs. Simultaneously, the Thai military continues its activities within its illegally occupied Cambodian territory, attempting to create a fait accompli through unilateral action.

In response, the Cambodian government strongly protested and solemnly stated its firm opposition to the Thai military's illegal entry and occupation of Cambodian territory, and will never recognize any border changes achieved through force or unilateral action. Cambodia stated that it will always strictly abide by international law and existing bilateral agreements with Thailand, and will continue to take all reasonable and compliant measures to firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
