According to the National Police Agency, the operation took place from March 23 to April 17. Police arrested 12 people on suspicion of violating the "Law Prohibiting Prostitution and Pornography Against Children," and the case files of another 87 individuals have been transferred to the prosecution. The youngest person involved is 14 years old, and the oldest is 72 years old. Their identities include high school teachers, middle school students, university students, civil servants, and company employees. In terms of gender, 95 are male and 4 are female. The operation also seized 101 mobile phones and 45 computers used in the crimes.
The National Police Agency stated that this operation was part of an international joint operation. In addition to Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia also participated.
According to Japan's Mainichi Shimbun, Japanese police arrested a jobless man in his 60s on suspicion of distributing child pornography online, acting on a tip from Singapore.
