Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to Yonhap News Agency on the 8th, the second trial of Kim Geon-hee, wife of former South Korean President Yoon Seok-youl, on charges of stock price manipulation and bribery, was held that day at the Seoul High Court. The special prosecutor's team investigating Kim Geon-hee's case recommended a 15-year prison sentence.

The report stated that the special prosecutor's team pointed out that considering the significant social impact of the defendant's crimes, the first-instance sentence was too lenient.

On January 28th, the 27th panel of the Seoul Central District Court delivered its first-instance verdict on three charges against Kim Geon-hee. Regarding the charge of accepting bribes from the Unification Church and receiving high-value items, the court found Kim Geon-hee guilty of violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, sentencing her to one year and eight months in prison and confiscating 12.815 million won (approximately US$9,000). Furthermore, the court found Kim Geon-hee not guilty of violating the Capital Markets Act and the Political Funds Act. On January 30, South Korean prosecutors appealed the acquittal in Kim Geon-hee's first trial regarding charges of stock price manipulation.
