Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to the official website of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), ICRC President Spoliaritz issued a statement on the 27th local time regarding the recent escalation of hostilities between Afghanistan and Pakistan, calling on both sides to exercise restraint and immediately de-escalate the situation.

Spoliaritz pointed out that the local population has suffered decades of conflict and displacement, “They have witnessed firsthand how war tears families and communities apart.” She emphasized that civilians, the wounded, and those not involved in combat must be protected, and humanitarian aid should be delivered unimpeded to all affected groups. Hospitals must function normally, and basic public services must be guaranteed – “These are not privileges, but obligations under international humanitarian law.”

The ICRC stated that it is coordinating closely with the Afghan Red Crescent, the Pakistan Red Crescent, and the authorities of both countries, focusing on supporting medical facilities on both sides of the border to treat the wounded. Spoliaritz also stressed: “No aid can replace political will – only when all parties truly respect the rules of war and prioritize de-escalation can the humanitarian crisis be fundamentally alleviated.” (End)
