  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to CCTV, on Monday morning, three Chinese law enforcement vessels, 53106, 53107, and 53108, set sail from the Jingha Police Wharf in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, marking the official launch of the 162nd joint Mekong River patrol and law enforcement operation involving China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. Simultaneously, the Lao vessel 003 and the Myanmar vessel 161 departed from the Mengmo Wharf in Laos and the Wanbang Wharf in Myanmar, respectively. The four vessels will rendezvous in designated areas of the Mekong River to form a joint fleet and conduct coordinated patrols.

  Prior to the operation, law enforcement agencies from the four countries held a joint commanders' meeting in Jinghong, Xishuangbanna, to discuss security measures during the Spring Festival and the peak Mekong River shipping season, deepen law enforcement cooperation, and maintain safe and stable navigation, ultimately reaching a consensus. This operation is being conducted with the Chinese vessel 53107 serving as the joint command center, jointly overseen by commanders from all four countries to ensure efficient and coordinated law enforcement.

  During the patrol, the joint fleet will focus on key waterways of the Mekong River, conducting joint land and water patrols, interceptions, and safety awareness campaigns to crack down on all types of cross-border crimes and ensure the safety and order of shipping in the river basin. In addition, law enforcement agencies from the four countries will hold an information exchange meeting in Huay Xai, Laos, to jointly assess the security situation in the Mekong River basin and further discuss specific measures to strengthen basin security governance and deepen multilateral law enforcement cooperation.
