Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – French President Emmanuel Macron announced on February 4th that France will maintain the current budget for its national cancer strategy, extending the funding until 2030. This plan covers prevention, screening, treatment, and research, aiming to continuously strengthen the French public health system's capacity to respond to cancer.
February 4th is World Cancer Day. According to French media reports, Macron made the announcement via video on World Cancer Day. He stated that France's cancer strategy has entered its second phase, with a total investment exceeding €1.7 billion over the next five years, roughly the same as the budget for 2021-2025. This strategy, officially called the "Ten-Year Cancer Strategy," is a continuation of France's ongoing cancer-fighting policies since the beginning of the 21st century.
According to plans released by the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), the establishment of a nationwide cancer case registry system will continue to be promoted to improve cancer prevention and treatment. Furthermore, France will soon launch a pilot program for lung cancer screening, expected to cover approximately 20,000 people.
In 2021, Macron announced the launch of the "National Cancer Strategy 2021-2030". In recent years, France has taken significant measures in several areas, such as promoting human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in secondary schools and further expanding smoking bans in public places. (End)
