  The statement noted that the UK and Italy maintain close cooperation in foreign and security policies. Against the backdrop of increasingly complex and cross-border security threats and rule-of-law challenges, the importance of judicial cooperation is increasingly prominent. The two countries will work together to strengthen cooperation in criminal, civil, and family justice, providing clearer legal protections for citizens, families, and children.

  Addressing the shared challenge of serious organized crime within and originating from prisons, the two countries stated that they will exchange experiences through strategic cooperation to enhance the resilience and effectiveness of their judicial systems. At the same time, both sides reaffirmed their support for the rule of law both domestically and internationally, and will work together on the reform and reconstruction of Ukraine, promoting an international framework adapted to modern challenges through multilateral mechanisms such as the Council of Europe and the United Nations.

  The British government stated that the newly signed prisoner transfer agreement will facilitate the effective transfer of prisoners between the two countries, helping offenders to reform and reintegrate into society during their imprisonment and after release.
