Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Cambodian Ministry of the Interior issued an official statement regarding the recent situation on the Cambodia-Thailand border and the implementation of the ceasefire agreement. The statement indicated that despite the previous ceasefire agreement, Thailand continued to engage in military actions that violated the agreement during the ceasefire monitoring period from January 7th to 8th. Cambodia expressed serious concern and reiterated its firm stance in defending its territorial integrity.

According to the Ministry of the Interior's statement, during the ceasefire period from 6:00 AM on January 7th to 6:00 AM on January 8th, Cambodia detected Thailand continuously sending drones into Cambodian airspace. Records show that a total of 27 drones illegally entered Cambodian territory, with 2 appearing in Pursat Province and 25 concentrated in Preah Vihear Province.

The Ministry of the Interior emphasized that it is currently maintaining close cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Ministry of National Defense, conducting 24-hour dynamic monitoring of the situation on the front lines. Cambodia solemnly demands that Thailand immediately cease all hostile military operations on the border and within Cambodian territory, and calls on Thailand to withdraw all military personnel and equipment to within the internationally recognized border line, and to earnestly implement all the terms and spirit of the ceasefire agreement.

The report detailed the progress of resettlement for people affected by the conflict: Since the emergency ceasefire was implemented on December 27 last year, nearly 500,000 of the original approximately 640,000 displaced persons have safely returned home; currently, about 200,000 people remain in various refugee camps, the vast majority of whom are women and children; the Ministry of Interior has instructed relevant departments in border provinces to continue to count the number of affected people, to conduct a full investigation into the losses caused by the conflict, and to expedite the restoration of public services for frontline troops and civilians.

To maintain social stability in border provinces, Cambodian authorities have comprehensively upgraded security measures and strictly controlled the local situation. The Ministry of Interior called on all Cambodians to further strengthen their understanding and support for the government's work, build national consensus, and jointly address the current challenges.

Cambodia reiterated that safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity is an unshakable bottom line, and Cambodia will continue to be committed to resolving disputes through peaceful and legal means, while reserving the right to take necessary measures to protect national interests.
