According to the National Seismological Service's website, the earthquake occurred at 7:58 AM local time (9:58 PM Beijing time) on February 2nd. The epicenter was located 4 kilometers southwest of San Marcos, Guerrero, at a depth of 5 kilometers.
Earthquake sirens sounded in Mexico City, where this reporter is located, accompanied by strong tremors. Some residents evacuated to the streets. The government deployed helicopters to assess the aftermath.
