Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – A fire that broke out at a bar in the southwestern Swiss ski resort of Cronmontana on January 1st has resulted in approximately 40 deaths and 115 injuries.
Local police stated that the fire occurred at 1:30 AM local time, while people were celebrating New Year's at the bar.
The cause of the fire is still unclear. Initial reports indicated an explosion, but authorities stated that the fire appears to be an accident rather than an attack.
Swiss Federal President Palmer called the disaster "one of the worst tragedies in our country's history," and noted that most of the victims were young people.
According to Swiss media reports, Palmer also announced that the Swiss Federal Parliament building will fly its flag at half-mast for five days in mourning.
