Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Facing increasing visitor numbers, Rome's iconic Trevi Fountain and Wishing Well will begin charging admission fees starting February 1st next year.

According to Italian sources on the 19th, Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri announced the decision. In addition to the Trevi Fountain and Wishing Well, five other attractions in Rome will also charge admission, all at €2. However, locals can still visit these attractions for free.

The Trevi Fountain and Wishing Well, completed in 1762, is a filming location for the classic film "Roman Holiday" and attracts tens of thousands of tourists annually. Traditionally, visitors make wishes and toss coins into the well. The coins retrieved from the well each year often exceed one million euros, all of which are donated to charity.

In 2024, the Rome city government invested hundreds of thousands of euros in renovations, cleaning the fountain and surrounding buildings of dirt, rust, and limescale. In December of the same year, the attraction reopened with limited capacity to avoid overcrowding.
