Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A French court on the 18th sentenced anesthesiologist Frédéric Peschier to life imprisonment for allegedly poisoning 30 patients, resulting in the deaths of 12.

Prosecutors stated that Peschier, 53, while working at two clinics in Besançon, France, between 2008 and 2017, repeatedly and intentionally added other drugs to IV bags. This caused patients to suffer cardiac arrest or massive bleeding during surgery. Peschier then used his involvement in these resuscitation efforts to demonstrate his professional skills and to attack colleagues with whom he had conflicts.

According to French media reports, the victims ranged in age from 4 to 89, with a total of 30 people poisoned, 12 of whom tragically died. An investigation was launched in 2017 following multiple cases of cardiac arrest during low-risk surgeries, and the investigation took eight years to complete. The case officially went to trial in September of this year. After three and a half months of intensive proceedings, the judge ultimately found him guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

During the trial, Peschier admitted to poisoning at the clinic but consistently denied being the perpetrator. Peschier's defense lawyer stated that his client would appeal the verdict. (End)
