Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Another exchange of fire occurred on the Cambodian-Thai border on the 7th local time. The Cambodian Ministry of National Defense stated that Thai troops opened fire on Cambodian forces in the border area that day, and the Cambodian army did not retaliate. Thailand, however, accused the Cambodian army of firing first, resulting in injuries to two Thai soldiers.
Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson, Ma Lishukyi, said in a statement on the 7th that at 2:15 PM that day, Thai troops launched an attack on Cambodian troops in the border area of Preah Vihear province. Cambodia did not retaliate and immediately contacted Thailand, requesting a cessation of fire. Thai troops ceased their attack at 2:32 PM.
The statement indicated that the Cambodian military is closely monitoring the situation with high caution and vigilance. Cambodia has notified the ASEAN observer mission of the incident and plans to request the mission's involvement in the investigation to ensure transparency, impartiality, and accuracy.
The Thai Army's Second Military Region issued a statement on the same day, saying that at 2:16 PM that day, Cambodian troops opened fire in Sisaket province on the Thai-Cambodian border, injuring two Thai soldiers. Thai troops retaliated, and intermittent fighting ensued. The conflict ceased at 2:50 PM, and local forces are continuing to closely monitor the situation.
According to Thai media reports, given the current uncertainty, the Thai Army's Second Military Region has advised residents of four provinces along the Thai-Cambodian border to evacuate to shelters. (End)
