Cambodia and Thailand exchanged fire for two days, with both sides issuing statements.

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense stated that Thai troops opened fire on Cambodian armed forces for the second consecutive day on the 8th, but Cambodia did not retaliate. On the same day, a spokesperson for the Thai Army said that Thailand had scrambled fighter jets in response to the Cambodian attack. Previous Cambodian attacks had resulted in the death of one Thai soldier and injuries to four others.

  Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson, Ma Lishukyi, stated on the 7th that at 2:15 PM that day, Thai troops launched an attack on Cambodian forces in the border region of Preah Vihear province. Cambodia did not retaliate and immediately contacted Thailand, requesting a cessation of fire. Thai troops ceased their attack at 2:32 PM.

  The statement also said that the Cambodian military is closely monitoring the situation with high caution and vigilance. Cambodia has notified the ASEAN observer mission of the incident and plans to request an investigation.

  The Thai Army's Second Military Region issued a statement on the 7th, saying that at 2:16 PM that day, Cambodian forces opened fire in Sisaket province on the Thai-Cambodian border, forcing Thailand to retaliate. Intermittent exchanges of fire continued between the two sides. The clashes ended at 2:50 PM. The Second Military Region assessed that the situation remains unclear and escalation is possible.

  According to Thai media reports, two Thai soldiers were injured in the exchange of fire, one shot in the leg and the other in the chest.

  Prime Minister's Office spokesperson Siripong stated that Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin is closely monitoring the border situation and has instructed the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces to take all necessary measures to safeguard national sovereignty and ensure public safety.
