According to US media reports, the shooting occurred at the MGM Grand International Resort Hotel in National Harbor, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. The hotel is approximately 10 miles (16 kilometers) from the White House.
Prince George County Sheriff George Nader said at a press conference that the shooting occurred around noon, and the suspect appeared to have a specific target. The suspect entered the hotel's food court, found the victim, and opened fire while the victim was ordering food. The suspect did not speak to the victim before firing.
Nader stated that the shooting resulted in one death, with no other injuries. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle after the attack, and police are currently searching for him.
