Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – A targeted shooting occurred in Washington, D.C., on the 26th, leaving two National Guard members seriously injured and a suspect arrested. U.S. Defense Secretary Hergsays said that President Trump had ordered the deployment of 500 additional troops to Washington, D.C.

On the afternoon of the 26th, two members of the West Virginia National Guard deployed to Washington, D.C., were shot just blocks from the White House. FBI Director Patel later said at a press conference that the two wounded soldiers were in serious condition and had been hospitalized.

Hergsays stated that Trump had requested the deployment of 500 additional troops to Washington, D.C. Hegsays said, "This incident happened just steps from the White House, and we cannot tolerate it."

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser stated that this was a targeted attack, and "the suspect appears to have targeted National Guard members." Police stated that at least one soldier exchanged fire with the suspect, who is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. The suspect's motive is unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.

Trump posted on social media that day, strongly condemning the suspect and stating that he "will pay a heavy price." According to US media reports, Trump was in West Palm Beach, Florida, when the shooting occurred.

White House Press Secretary Levitt said the White House was under lockdown, adding, "The White House is aware of and actively monitoring this tragic event."

In August, Trump declared a "crime emergency" in Washington, D.C., and ordered the takeover of the capital's police department, deploying the National Guard to assist in restoring law and order and public safety. Subsequently, more than 2,300 National Guard members from eight states and the District of Columbia were deployed to Washington, D.C., patrolling the streets under military command. On September 20, a U.S. federal district judge ruled that the federal government's deployment of the National Guard to assist in maintaining order in the capital was illegal and ordered the termination of the deployment. However, this ruling will be suspended for 21 days to allow the federal government time to appeal.
