A Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondent in Phnom Penh reported that a spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense stated that Cambodia and Thailand will launch the second wave of the first phase of the heavy weapons evacuation operation on November 8.
In a press release issued on the evening of November 6, Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Mary Sochtha stated that this operation is being carried out in accordance with the action plan signed on October 31 by General Bo Heng, Commander of the 4th Military Region of Cambodia, and General Virayu Rasin, Commander of the 2nd Military Region of Thailand.
According to the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson, the first phase of the highly destructive weapons and equipment evacuation operation will be conducted in three waves from November 1 to 21. The first wave began on November 1 and is being monitored and verified by the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT).
Previously, on October 31, the 4th Military Region of Cambodia and the 2nd Military Region of Thailand held a special meeting of the Regional Boundary Committee (RBC) at the two military region level. Both sides reached an agreement at the meeting on a phased timetable and plan for the withdrawal of heavy weapons and powerful destructive weapons, which will be monitored and verified by the ASEAN Observer Group (AOT) to reduce military tensions.
