Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – To effectively implement the previously signed peace agreement, Cambodia and Thailand officially launched the first phase of their border weapons and heavy lethality adjustment plan on November 1st. This marks a significant step forward for peace and stability along the border between the two countries.
According to Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Mary Socheat, the first phase of the adjustment officially commenced at 18:45 on November 1st, 2025, and will last for three weeks, until November 21st. The entire adjustment process will be conducted reciprocally by Cambodia and Thailand under the supervision and verification of the ASEAN Observer Mission (AOT).

This adjustment plan is based on the Joint Statement of the Kuala Lumpur Cambodia-Thailand Peace Agreement signed on October 26th, 2025, and the consensus reached at the special meeting of the Regional Border Committee held on October 31st between the Cambodian Fourth Military Region and the Thai Second Military Region.
As an initial action to implement the joint statement, Cambodia and Thailand withdrew two armored vehicles to their designated positions at 9 PM on October 26, marking the partial completion of the first phase of the readjustment operation. Cambodia will simultaneously conduct the readjustment of weapons and heavy equipment at two locations in Preah Vihear province, namely, Chon Khesan and Rovan districts; Thailand will reciprocate with corresponding readjustment arrangements for weapons and heavy equipment.

Cambodia emphasized that both sides will fully and effectively implement the joint statement in accordance with the principles of sincerity, friendship, and transparency. This move will strongly promote peace, stability, and cooperation in the border region, push for the restoration of normal order along the border, and ultimately benefit the people of both countries.
