Joint demining operation on the Cambodia-Thailand border is about to begin.

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Cambodian-Thailand Joint Coordination Working Group recently reached an important consensus, formally confirming the launch of a humanitarian demining pilot operation in a priority minefield along the border between the two countries. This marks a substantial step forward in promoting border peace and security cooperation between the two nations.

  The pilot area is located in Ocpakho commune, Oucho district, Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia, across a river from Nong Mark Mong commune, Koh Son district, Sa Kaeo province, Thailand.

  On October 31, the Cambodian-Thailand Joint Coordination Working Group formally finalized the pilot location at a meeting. The demining operation will be strictly conducted in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) jointly signed by both sides on October 23.

  Based on the consensus reached at the meeting, the working group has appointed representatives from the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) and the Thai Mine Action Center (TMAC) to conduct a technical meeting on November 7. Both sides will jointly discuss the specific demining arrangements and implementation details to ensure the smooth progress of the pilot operation.

  This humanitarian demining operation will adhere to the principles of safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and will be carried out in a spirit of cooperation based on mutual respect between neighboring countries.

  The operation aims to create a safe environment for communities in border areas, promote the recovery and sustainable development of communities in both regions, and demonstrates the firm commitment of both countries to jointly eliminate the threat of landmines and benefit the people along the border.
