Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Rio de Janeiro State Police in Brazil reported on the 28th that a large-scale operation against the "Red Command" criminal organization began early that morning in Rio de Janeiro, resulting in the deaths of at least 60 suspects, the arrest of 81 people, the deaths of four police officers, and injuries to 15 others.

The report stated that the large-scale operation against the "Red Command" in the Alemão and Peña neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro involved multiple helicopters and armored vehicles. The criminals erected barricades with incendiary materials in the neighborhoods and used drones to drop bombs on police, leading to fierce clashes. Local media outlets such as Folha de S.Paulo and G1 reported that Rio was in a state of "wartime" that day, with the conflict lasting for 12 hours and intense gunfire continuing until around 6 PM. Several main roads in the city were paralyzed, leading to temporary changes to some public transportation routes.

The report also stated that police arrested two regional leaders of the "Red Command" and seized 93 rifles, 2 pistols, and 9 motorcycles. Police stated that prior to the operation, schools and medical stations within the community had been ordered closed, and public transportation routes were rerouted. However, several residents were still injured by stray bullets. Rio de Janeiro State Governor Castro stated that this was the most intense and deadliest anti-gang operation in recent years, and that the operation would continue for a long time. Rio de Janeiro State Security Secretary Victor stated that the entire operation area is home to approximately 280,000 people, and the injuries to innocent civilians are regrettable, but the anti-gang operation is essential and will continue.

The Alemão and Peña communities have long been areas plagued by rampant drug trafficking and illegal weapons, and are also key strongholds of the "Red Command," posing a serious threat to security in Rio de Janeiro State and even nationwide.

Currently, the Rio Operations Center (COR-Rio) has issued an emergency security alert, raising the risk level to Level 2. Several foreign embassies and consulates in Brazil also issued emergency security alerts that day. (End)
