Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – U.S. Defense Secretary Hergsays announced via social media on the 28th that the U.S. military sank four "drug trafficking ships" in international waters of the Eastern Pacific on the 27th, killing 14 people and leaving one survivor.

Since September, the U.S. military has conducted more than ten military operations in international waters of the Caribbean Sea to combat suspected drug trafficking vessels, resulting in at least 57 deaths.

This is the first publicly disclosed military operation against drug trafficking since the U.S. military announced on the 24th the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group in waters surrounding Latin America.

Hergsays said the four sunken ships were carrying drugs and were sailing along known drug smuggling routes. Mexico is coordinating the rescue of the survivor.

Hergsays stated that the U.S. military will track, identify, and dismantle drug trafficking networks and continue to pursue and combat drug-related terrorists.

In early October, the Trump administration submitted a memorandum to Congress stating that the United States and drug cartels designated as terrorist organizations by the U.S. were "in a non-international armed conflict." (End)
