Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reported on November 11th that, according to the Vietnam Customs Department, in the first 10 months of this year, national budget revenue from import and export activities reached VND 379.816 trillion, achieving 92.4% of the annual budget target, a 9.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024 (equivalent to an increase of VND 32.384 trillion).
Statistics show that in the first 10 months of 2025, the total value of imports and exports of goods nationwide reached USD 762.44 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.4% (equivalent to an increase of USD 112.74 billion). The trade surplus reached USD 19.56 billion.
According to the Customs Department, since October 2025, due to the significant price difference between domestic and international gold markets, the risks of smuggling and illegally carrying gold and currency across borders have increased; the use of transit, transshipment, and border crossing methods to transport counterfeit and substandard goods and goods infringing on intellectual property rights continues, concentrated at border crossings bordering China, Laos, and Cambodia.
From December 15, 2024 to October 14, 2025, customs authorities have investigated and handled 15,121 cases, involving goods valued at approximately VND 19.551 trillion, with approximately VND 710.33 billion remitted to the state budget. Customs authorities have filed 16 cases and transferred 100 cases to other agencies for further investigation.
Faced with the increasingly complex situation of cross-border smuggling and illegal transportation, the Customs Department has issued several warnings and operational guidance documents, such as information on strengthening the prevention, detection, and crackdown on smuggling routes, and the current situation of drug production, sale, and transportation in Latin America. Simultaneously, the Customs Department has guided local customs branches to conduct investigations and self-inspections, strengthen customs supervision and anti-smuggling efforts, improve the effectiveness of customs supervision, and expedite the record-keeping process.
