Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 2025 China Commercial Vehicle Industry Development and Technological Innovation Conference opened on November 11th in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Area, known as the "China Auto Valley." Industry experts and representatives from domestic and international OEMs, core component manufacturers, leading logistics companies, and digital freight platforms gathered to discuss the future development of China's commercial vehicle industry.
The conference, themed "Renewal and Breakthrough," explored key common issues and trends in the commercial vehicle industry. Specialized forums covered hot topics in the industry's transformation and development, including technology-driven innovation practices, export markets and policies, the development of the special-purpose vehicle industry, low-carbon energy conservation and pollution control technologies, and hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicle technology. The China International Commercial Vehicle Exhibition and the China Commercial Vehicle Special Evaluation Release Conference were held concurrently.
"The commercial vehicle industry plays a vital role in serving national strategies, ensuring people's livelihoods, and supporting industrial upgrading," said An Tiecheng, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CATARC"). He added that China's commercial vehicle transformation towards new energy has accelerated significantly, with diverse technological routes such as pure electric, hydrogen fuel cell, methanol, and hybrid electric vehicles developing in rapid succession. Meanwhile, intelligent technologies are deeply embedded in the entire chain of commercial vehicle R&D, manufacturing, operation, and service, transforming from an "optional bonus" to a "core hard power" determining a company's competitiveness.
According to reports, the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) Commercial Vehicle New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicle Innovation Base was launched on the 10th in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Area. This base is the first comprehensive technology innovation platform in China's commercial vehicle sector covering the entire value chain. Once completed, it will serve the automotive industry's needs for R&D innovation, experimental research, and pilot-scale transformation.
During the conference, CATARC, together with core OEMs in China's commercial vehicle sector, established the New Energy Heavy Truck Alliance. It is understood that the alliance will focus on collaborative research into common technologies, collaborative development of policies and regulations, collaborative interconnection of transportation and energy integration, collaborative innovation of business models, and collaborative deepening of international cooperation to build an open and shared industrial ecosystem. Simultaneously, relying on CATARC's Wuhan Testing Center, the alliance will collaborate with automotive companies, universities, and research institutions in Hubei and Wuhan to conduct technological research and accelerate the localization of core technologies.
Wuhan is one of China's important automotive industry bases. In recent years, the local automotive industry has accelerated its transformation and upgrading. Data shows that from January to October 2025, Wuhan's new energy vehicle production reached 379,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 45.7%, with a new energy vehicle penetration rate of 52.7%.
This conference was hosted by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd. and China Automotive News Co., Ltd., and co-organized by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association and the Commercial Vehicle Committee of the China Automobile Dealers Association. It is understood that the conference will be permanently located in China's Auto Valley. (End)
