At 00:40, the first train departing from Beijing – K4069 from Beijing West to Nanchang – departed, marking the official start of the 2026 Spring Festival travel rush in the Beijing area.
Reporters at the scene observed that, as Beijing's inaugural Spring Festival train, K4069 was decorated with lanterns, Spring Festival couplets, and a banner reading "The road home is the New Year."
Wang Wei, the train conductor of K4069, has been involved in railway Spring Festival travel rush work for 16 years, but this was his first time working on the inaugural Spring Festival train. "To win the first battle of the Spring Festival travel rush, our section selected 90 key personnel to form two crew groups, who underwent rigorous and comprehensive training," Wang Wei introduced. To ensure service and support during the Spring Festival travel rush, this train has specially set up volunteer service posts to provide full-process care for key passengers such as the elderly, children, the sick, the disabled, and pregnant women.
In addition, reporters observed that mobile service desks were set up inside the train carriages to answer inquiries, issue travel tips, and were equipped with first-aid kits, portable power banks, and other items.
On the first day of the Spring Festival travel rush, Beijing West Railway Station is expected to handle 145,000 passengers, and the entire Spring Festival travel rush is expected to handle 5.155 million passengers.
At Beijing West Railway Station, reporters saw many heartwarming service facilities. For example, a standardized mother and baby room has been added at the entrance of Waiting Room 8, and one-on-one guidance and assistance is provided for unaccompanied elderly people and pregnant women who need help. Next to the 12306 service desk, there is an intelligent inquiry robot that can promptly answer passengers' questions. At Beijing West Railway Station, nine self-service ticket information kiosks are available in the waiting area, allowing passengers to quickly obtain information such as gate and seat details by swiping their ID cards.
