Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On August 24, Do Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, visited the Czech Republic for foreign affairs exchanges. He held working talks with Prague Deputy Mayor Petr Hlavacek at Prague City Hall. The two sides exchanged views on the current state of cooperation between the two capitals, focusing on the direction and pathways for deepening practical cooperation in multiple fields, reaching broad consensus.
During the talks, Do Anh Tuan first affirmed the traditional friendly relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic. He stated that, based on a deep foundation of friendship, Hanoi and Prague have maintained close exchanges and deepened cooperation in trade and investment, cultural and tourism exchanges, people-to-people exchanges, and local government cooperation in recent years, making the foundation for bilateral cooperation increasingly solid. He also pointed out that there is still enormous potential for further development and expansion in economic and trade investment cooperation between the two regions, with broad prospects for future cooperation.
Hanoi raised several key cooperation requests regarding core areas such as urban construction and governance. Du Anh Tuan stated that Hanoi hopes to deepen its experience sharing and complementary advantages with Prague, focusing on in-depth exchanges and learning in areas such as urban planning and management, historical heritage protection, public transportation construction, and urban digital transformation. Specifically, Hanoi hopes to learn from Prague's mature experience in the protection and renewal of historic districts, referencing its urban renewal model of transforming old industrial areas and abandoned factories into cultural and creative spaces, urban parks, and public service facilities. At the same time, Hanoi hopes to absorb Prague's advanced governance experience in areas such as affordable housing construction, middle-class housing support, public housing fund establishment, urban financing mechanisms, and public-private partnership urban operation models.
Du Anh Tuan explained that Hanoi is currently making every effort to promote the protection of historical and cultural heritage, but some historical areas are still managed by residents themselves, posing certain challenges to standardized protection, restoration, and development. Hanoi is currently actively researching and exploring scientifically feasible solutions and looks forward to receiving experience support and technical reference from Prague.
In addition to urban planning and construction, Hanoi also proposed to comprehensively expand the scope of cooperation between the two sides, continuously deepening cooperation in multiple dimensions such as transportation infrastructure, smart city construction, scientific research and development, digital economy, culture and arts, education and training, and social security. Meanwhile, leveraging the platforms of the diplomatic missions of both countries, efforts will be strengthened to precisely connect businesses in both regions, facilitating trade, investment, and cultural and tourism exchanges, and promoting the upgrading of bilateral economic, trade, cultural, and tourism industries.
On the same day, the Hanoi delegation met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic, representatives of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic, and the Federation of Vietnamese Associations in Europe to ensure smooth communication channels among overseas Vietnamese.
Do Anh Tuan highly praised the positive contributions made by the Vietnamese communities in the Czech Republic and Europe to friendly exchanges, economic and trade relations, and cultural dissemination between the two countries. He emphasized that overseas Vietnamese are an integral and important part of Vietnam's national and capital development, and a valuable resource for Hanoi's high-quality development.
Do Anh Tuan stated that Hanoi will continue to listen to and incorporate the opinions and demands of overseas Vietnamese, continuously optimize and improve supporting policies and service mechanisms, and create better conditions and environments for overseas Vietnamese to return to their homeland to invest and participate in the capital's construction and development. He also hoped that overseas Vietnamese associations would continue to play a bridging role, actively promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, enhance mutual understanding and friendship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, and continuously contribute to the steady development of comprehensive friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
