Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – In response to the 2026 “World Day Against Trafficking in Persons” and the July 30th “National Day Against Trafficking in Persons”, Vietnam will conduct a series of special publicity campaigns from July 1st to September 30th this year. This campaign will focus on strengthening public education on anti-fraud and fraud prevention, enhancing the public's ability to identify and prevent human trafficking scams such as online fake recruitment.
It is reported that Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tu has officially signed Decision No. 1154/QĐ-TTg, issuing the “Implementation Plan for Activities in Response to the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and the July 30th National Day Against Trafficking in Persons” (hereinafter referred to as the “Implementation Plan”), comprehensively deploying this year's publicity and rectification work against human trafficking.
This special campaign is guided by the official theme of the UN 2026 “World Day Against Trafficking in Persons” – “Trapped after the Scam”, precisely targeting the new characteristics of current human trafficking crimes. Currently, criminal gangs often use online platforms to post fake overseas recruitment information, luring people abroad to commit illegal detention, forced labor, and even coerce victims into participating in online fraud and other illegal and criminal activities. This has become a major form of human trafficking.
The Implementation Plan clarifies that this campaign aims to coordinate and mobilize the efforts of Vietnam's political system at all levels, ministries, industry authorities, local governments, and all sectors of society to build a comprehensive and participatory framework for combating human trafficking. It also details and implements the key tasks of the "2026-2030 Plan for Combating Human Trafficking (Prospective to 2035)," continuously deepening the normalized efforts to combat human trafficking.
According to the work plan, Vietnamese ministries, directly affiliated agencies, provincial and municipal people's committees, and mainstream news media will comprehensively upgrade their publicity efforts, innovating publicity methods and enriching communication channels. Combining local realities and the cognitive characteristics of different groups, they will utilize diverse channels such as community outreach, official government platforms, and social media networks to conduct regular anti-human trafficking legal education and publicity, achieving full coverage and no blind spots in the publicity.
To further expand the impact of the campaign and enhance public awareness, Vietnam's current special operation specifically proposes to actively invite prominent figures, social media KOLs, and KOCs to participate in public service campaigns. Leveraging the advantages of new media in guiding public opinion, the campaign aims to popularize anti-fraud knowledge, strengthen the public's awareness of human trafficking, and unite the entire population in a collective effort to combat it.
Simultaneously, government agencies at all levels and local units will focus on grassroots governance, cultivate and promote grassroots demonstration models for combating human trafficking, and regularly issue warnings about online fraudulent recruitment scams. They will also conduct legal education on compliant immigration and cybersecurity, helping the public understand legal entry and exit procedures and improve their ability to identify online risks, thus curbing human trafficking cases at their source.
To ensure smooth channels for public assistance and reporting, the implementation plan requires the full public disclosure and widespread promotion of various convenient service channels. When the public discovers suspicious clues about human trafficking or experiences related harm, they can seek help or report through the national anti-human trafficking service hotline 111, the emergency police number 113, the VNeID application's crime reporting function, and the official Facebook pages of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and public security agencies at all levels.
In addition, relevant Vietnamese departments will continue to review and publicize the country's measures and achievements in combating human trafficking, proactively dispel rumors, resolutely refute false statements distorting the situation of human trafficking in Vietnam, and objectively showcase the results of the special campaign.
This series of publicity and rectification activities to combat human trafficking nationwide in 2026 will run from July 1st to September 30th, lasting three months. (End)
