Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On the morning of February 26th, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the Central Steering Committee for Housing Policy and Real Estate Market, chaired the sixth meeting of the Steering Committee. The meeting focused on assessing the implementation effectiveness of the work deployed at the fifth meeting and discussing in depth the path for formulating housing policies targeting middle-income groups.
The meeting was held in a hybrid online and offline format, with the main venue at the government headquarters and branch venues simultaneously set up in 34 provinces and cities nationwide. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, heads of ministries and departments, heads of provincial and municipal people's committees, and representatives from relevant industry associations, enterprises, and banks participated.
In his opening remarks, Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the right to housing is a fundamental right of citizens. He pointed out that every citizen should have equal access to suitable housing in an open, transparent, and fair environment, based on their income level and the actual economic and social development of the country, thus achieving a unified interest between the state, enterprises, and the people. Housing development needs to build a multi-tiered supply system encompassing commercial housing and affordable housing. Regardless of the type of housing, it is essential to ensure complete infrastructure, synchronized supporting facilities, and equitable services, achieving comprehensive protection rather than selective coverage.
Pham Minh Chinh explained that since 2025, the government has continuously increased policy support for the housing sector, focusing on overcoming difficulties and obstacles in areas such as the construction of affordable housing. To date, over 100,000 units of affordable housing have been completed nationwide, and the government aims to complete the construction of 1 million units by 2028, two years ahead of schedule. With the advancement of development practices, new housing demands are constantly emerging, especially among the middle-income group with a monthly income of approximately 20 million VND or more, whose housing needs are becoming increasingly urgent.
He emphasized that the purpose of this meeting is to unify thinking, build consensus, conduct in-depth research on housing development strategies and policy measures for the middle-income group, continuously increase housing supply, meet the reasonable housing needs of different income groups, and effectively guarantee citizens' equal right to housing. The ultimate goal of the meeting is to expand the effective supply of the real estate market, optimize the product structure, promote reasonable housing prices, ensure that housing demand groups can purchase homes fairly in an open, transparent, and standardized environment, and eliminate unnecessary procedural obstacles and negative phenomena.
Fan Mingzheng urged all relevant departments to enhance their sense of urgency and responsibility, and to uphold the work attitude of "not wasting a single day, not delaying a week's work, not missing a month's opportunity, and not falling into a passive position within a year," so as to accelerate the introduction of policies and measures that meet actual needs.
