Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – UNESCO has officially inscribed the An Tu, Vinh Nghiem, and Con Son-Kai Bo sites and landmarks in Vietnam on the World Heritage List, marking a significant milestone in the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese culture and reflecting the international community's high recognition of the integrated value of its historical culture and natural landscape.
This heritage complex is located in Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, and Hai Phong provinces. It is closely related to the birth and flourishing of the Truc Lam An Tu Zen school, founded by Emperor Tran Nhan Tong in the 13th century, and fully demonstrates the development of Vietnam's unique cultural and spiritual value system.
During the Tran Dynasty, Truc Lam Buddhism was not only the core belief system but also an important ideological foundation for maintaining national unity and defending Dai Viet's independence, sovereignty, and cultural characteristics.
UNESCO recognized this heritage site based on the "outstanding universal value" criterion, affirming the organic interaction between the An Tu mountain range, the Con Son-Kai Bo natural landscape, the Truc Lam Buddhist faith, and the political power of the Tran Dynasty.
This heritage complex integrates tangible and intangible cultural heritage, encompassing tangible remains such as ancient temples, pagodas, inscriptions, and the Vinh Nghiem Pagoda woodblocks (inscribed on the Asia-Pacific Memory of the World Register), as well as living traditions like religious ceremonies and temple fairs, providing a unique perspective for studying the spiritual and cultural transmission of the Vietnamese people.
The complex is deeply connected to prominent Vietnamese historical and cultural figures such as Tran Nhan Tong, Tran Hung Dao, and Nguyen Thu, preserving historical, architectural, artistic, and intellectual value spanning multiple centuries.
The successful inscription opens new opportunities for the sustainable development of Vietnam's cultural tourism, cultural education, and global dialogue on spiritual heritage. The Vietnamese government pledges to strictly protect the integrity, authenticity, and outstanding universal value of the heritage, promoting coordinated progress in cultural preservation, socio-economic development, and environmental protection.
This heritage complex not only showcases the profound historical and cultural heritage of the Vietnamese nation but also makes a significant contribution to the treasure trove of humanity's shared cultural heritage. (End)
