
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), on the evening of February 19th local time, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) To Lam, who was attending the opening meeting of the Gaza Peace Committee in Washington, D.C., met with representatives of the Vietnamese representative office in the United States and overseas Vietnamese compatriots.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung reported that the Vietnamese community in the United States is large and deeply integrated into local society, wielding considerable influence in fields such as science and technology, education, and finance. They remain devoted to their homeland and are an important force in enhancing Vietnam's international standing. The representative office in the United States will continue to optimize services for the overseas Vietnamese community, strengthen ties between the overseas Vietnamese and the mainland, and implement the new diplomatic policy. Representatives of the overseas Vietnamese community in the United States expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the meeting with General Secretary To Lam, stating that it reflected the deep concern of the Party and the State, and that they were willing to work hand in hand with the motherland for development.
General Secretary To Lam extended New Year greetings to the overseas Vietnamese compatriots in the United States. He pointed out that Vietnam's participation as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Committee demonstrates the independent, autonomous, and cooperative diplomatic principles established by the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He affirmed the substantial contributions made by overseas Vietnamese in the United States to national development and the consolidation of the Vietnam-US comprehensive strategic partnership through cooperation in trade, investment, and technological innovation, while abiding by local laws.
Regarding national development plans, General Secretary To Lam reiterated the goals of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam: to strive to become a modern industrialized, middle-to-high-income developing country by 2030, and a high-income developed country by 2045. He emphasized that the United States is an important strategic partner and one of Vietnam's largest trading partners, and Vietnam is willing to deepen bilateral relations on the basis of mutual benefit, win-win cooperation, peace, and stability.
General Secretary To Lam stated that the Party and the State have always valued overseas Vietnamese and will continue to improve policies concerning overseas Vietnamese, protect their legitimate rights and interests, and create favorable conditions for overseas talents to return to Vietnam to contribute their efforts. Overseas Vietnamese will always be an important part of national unity and a core driving force for national development.
Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung stated that he will keep General Secretary To Lam's guidance in mind and lead the representative office in the United States and overseas Vietnamese in the United States to continue to contribute to the development of the motherland. (End)
