During this trip, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, Chairman of the Gaza Peace Committee, the delegation attended the opening meeting of the Gaza Peace Committee in Washington from February 18th to 20th. This was Vietnam's first major multilateral international diplomatic activity since the 14th CPC National Congress.

General Secretary To Lam's trip aimed to implement the independent, autonomous, multilateral, and diversified foreign policy established by the 14th CPC National Congress, demonstrating Vietnam's determination as a responsible member of the international community to actively participate in global peace and development affairs. Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung stated that Vietnam, having experienced war, deeply understands the value of peace and reconstruction. Joining the committee is not only a measure to implement the Party's foreign policy and enhance the country's image, but also an opportunity for Vietnam to leverage its experience and participate in international cooperation.

During the meeting, To Lin engaged in extensive exchanges with leaders from various countries. All participating nations highly praised Vietnam's enhanced international standing and socio-economic development achievements, agreeing to deepen bilateral relations and strengthen coordination within multilateral mechanisms to jointly promote the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan and foster lasting peace in the Middle East based on international law and the UN Charter. Trump welcomed and thanked Vietnam for joining the Peace Commission, praising Vietnam's firm commitment to global peace and stability. Furthermore, the Vietnamese delegation held several talks with its US partners, promoting cooperation in areas such as science and technology, digital transformation, human resource training, and security and defense.

Vietnam consistently advocates resolving disputes peacefully and is willing to provide humanitarian assistance, support infrastructure reconstruction, and trust-building in Gaza. Le Hoai Trung, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Foreign Minister, revealed that Vietnam will subsequently study specific areas of contribution, including peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, and post-war reconstruction in Gaza. International and host country media highly praised To Lin's visit and Vietnam's membership in the Peace Commission, recognizing it as demonstrating Vietnam's more proactive diplomatic stance and its determination to enhance its diplomatic capabilities with a spirit of self-reliance and assume greater responsibility for world peace and development.
