Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On February 16, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a letter of commendation to the Minister of National Defense, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Tho Province, and the Commander of the Engineering Corps, praising their sense of responsibility and efficient execution in the emergency construction of the pontoon bridge across the Lu River. The bridge's early opening provides crucial support for public travel during the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) in 2026.
Previously, the Lu River Bridge in Duan Hung Commune, Phu Tho Province, was severely damaged, threatening traffic safety. Following public complaints and media reports, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a special meeting on February 14, requesting the Ministry of National Defense to lead the joint construction of the pontoon bridge with the Phu Tho Provincial Government to ensure safe travel during the Lunar New Year and the smooth operation of the regional economy and society. The pontoon bridge will serve as a transportation hub during the repair of the old bridge and the construction of the new one.
Upon receiving instructions, the Ministry of National Defense swiftly guided the engineering corps to conduct surveying and construction. With the close cooperation of all parties in Phu Tho province, the pontoon bridge was erected in just two days and officially opened to traffic on February 16th (the 29th day of the twelfth lunar month), ahead of schedule, and widely praised by the local people.
In his letter of commendation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pointed out that the successful completion of this mission demonstrates the fine tradition of the "Uncle Ho's Army"—selfless service to the people and a close bond with them—and reflects the essence of the military as servants of the people. He requested the Ministry of National Defense to commend the relevant units and individuals according to regulations, propose rewards and punishments, and continue to cooperate with Phu Tho province to ensure safe and smooth travel for the public.
